Failing a Re-test

What Happens Now?

After your free re-test (test number2) your vehicle may be re-tested at any test center for an additional $20 test fee. Please be aware that after the 60 day free retest period expires, your vehicle is out of compliance.

If your vehicle was repaired at a Certified Emissions Repair Facility and still fails the re-test, you may be eligible for a waiver by calling the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles at 1-860-263-5611 for waiver information.

 Read more about waiver eligibility.

Vehicle emissions testing is the State's most effective way to improve air quality.
