Test Centers

Who will be testing my vehicle?

The Connecticut Emissions Testing Program uses auto repair shops, service stations and car dealers with specially trained testing inspectors to perform the emission test that your vehicle may require.

What are the Test Centers hours of operation?

The testing centers’ operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. To find a testing center near you, please refer to our Official Emissions Test Centers. You may drive into a test center and request a test or make an appointment.

What happens if a test center won’t test my vehicle?

If the test center refuses to test your vehicle, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  • Excessive fluid leak
  • Worn tires
  • Loud internal engine noise
  • Animals in vehicle
  • Studded tires (from November 15-April 30, tested vehicles will receive a TSI test)

If this is the case, then you must make the necessary repairs or adjustments in order to have your vehicle tested.  If a Test Center refuses to test your vehicle you will receive an ABORT Vehicle Inspection Report indicating the reason.
