Tests For All-Wheel-Drive and Vehicles Specially Equipped For the Handicapped

Some 1996 and newer all-wheel-drive and some vehicles specially equipped for the handicapped cannot be tested using a dynamometer test. These vehicles are tested for emissions through the Two-Speed Idle tailpipe test, using a sensor-probe inserted into the tailpipe to measure emissions while the vehicle's transmission is in neutral.
